HUANG GI Mongolian Milkvetch Root This drug is the dry root of Astragalus membranaceus Bge. Var. monaholicus (Bge) Hsiao or Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch) Bge (family Leguminosae) and produced into powder through modern scientific technology. Extractum of every gram is equivalent to 4.5g of raw herb.

Description
It is yellow powder with light scent, slight bitter in flavor and a little sweet by feedback.

Sweet taste, warm in property, enter the spleen and lung channels

Function and indication
Tonifying QI to restore YANG, consolidating superficies to stop perspiration, inducing diuresis to remove edema, promoting pus discharge and tissue regeneration. For internal injuries and tiredness, diarrhea due to spleen-asthenia, lung-asthenia and cough, proctoptosis, descensus uteri, hematemesis, hematochezia, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis,spontaneous perspiration, night sweating, blood-arthralgia, carbuncle and boil, ulcer being unable to heal and all diseases due to deficient QI and blood.

Chemical ingredients
It contains triterpene saporin with strong activity (such as astragalus saponin 1, 2, 3), flavonoid compound, polysaccharide, amino acid and microelement.

Pharmacological action

• Function on immune system - It is a good immunomodulator.
  
• Function on cardiovascular system
  Astragalus saponin and polysaccharides have function of improving the cardiac contractivity, reducing the area of myocardial infarction.
  
• Function on blood and hematopoietic system
  Mongolian Milkvetch Root can protect the hematopoiesis of bone marrow caused by cyclophosphamide, prevent the reduction of the karyocyte in bone marrow. It can increase the amount of white cells, blood platelet, reticulocyte and megalocaryocyte.
• Mongolian Milkvetch Root can enhance the physiological metabolism of cells
• Function on antiageing
  Mongolian Milkvetch Root has function of promoting superoxide dismutase and removing free radical, which is the principle to prolong cell life and resist ageing.
  
• Astragalus polysaccharides increase the amount of RNA in spleen of mice, astragalus saponin promote formation of DNA and fasten the differentiation and proliferation of liver.
• Mongolian Milkvetch Root can enhance the activity of antioxidase and antioxidant, reduce the amount of serum lipofuscin.
